The President’s Welcome Message.

Welcome to the website of the Robert Burns World Federation (RBWF) which has been designed to offer an effective means of communication about the life and works of Scotland’s national poet. We hope you make this your first point of contact when searching for information about the poet and we encourage you to take an active part in debate through the “Discussion Forum.” We also offer an “Expert Archive” in which you can read about, or contribute to, research topics on specific aspects of interest about the poet. The site carries copies of all his poems with helpful translations and many of his letters to help you to get to know and appreciate his rich and varied output.
I have the honour to be the President for this year, a title which carries substantial prestige within the worldwide network of clubs and societies linked to the RBWF. As President I am also Chairman of the Board of Directors who take decisions and form policies to promote the Federation and enable it to meet its objectives. The main objectives of the RBWF are the care and preservation of the built heritage and artefacts associated with the Bard; the promotion of Scottish literature, music, art and dance, but especially those aspects relating to Burns; the organization and running of national Schools festivals in which many thousands of youngsters take part; and, lastly, the marketing of Burns as a ‘brand’ not only to raise his profile nationally and internationally but also to generate the necessary income to keep the organization financially viable. Further information on these aspects of the Board’s work can be found elsewhere on this site.
As well as a membership from clubs in all parts of the world, the RBWF also has many individual members, many of whom are not within a club framework but who want to follow Burns as a personal interest. This RBWF site is here for all our members, and for anyone else who seeks information on the life and works of Robert Burns.
